I wrote this a couple of months ago but I'm just now posting it:
Today I am thankful for all of the outpouring of love from family & friends. I have received many gifts, prayers, cards, hugs, parties, support & love from all the precious people that God has surrounded me with.

The last three months have been very interesting. At the end of July, after an amazing mission trip to Guatemala, I went to see my oncologist for my nine month checkup. Next
thing I knew, I was having a biopsy, and then an exploratory surgery. While I
waited for the results, I decided to stand firm in His promise that by His stripes
I am healed. However, the results were delayed
several days more than expected. So, one day I started thinking all different
kinds of bad thoughts. I remember crying intensely. I felt like I had been firm,
believing; and I was exhausted. I told God “I don’t want to be strong, it is so
tiring. I’m exhausted.” And God spoke to me very clearly: “return to rest”. God
has been teaching me about this “rest” since the beginning of 2012. (Forgive me
if you have read in my older posts about this “rest”. I think everyone who
knows me hears me talking about it over and over). We have been through a lot
the last couple of years and this word of “rest” has been resonating over and
over in my heart. So after a long cry, I
decided to rest. My soul rested in Him and it felt so good!
Days went by and then I received the bad news from the
oncologist: “The cancer has returned. It is now in the uterus” I was at home alone
that day. I didn’t call my husband, and
I didn’t call my dad like I did the first time I was diagnosed. I just sat in my chair. I cried a lot and I
talked to God. We had a good, long talk. It was one of those bittersweet moments. There
are a lot of unknowns (and it sucks) but in those moments you are just so sure
that you are dearly loved and you are taken care of somehow. I truly believe that by His stripes I am
healed and that is enough. So I decided to rest in His promises of love and
health.
We know how much God
loves us, and we have put our trust in His love. 1 John 4:16
The next days were very stressful. I had to work almost every hour at resting (what
an oxymoron!). And as long as I rested in Him, I felt great. I felt peace and
even joy. After several tests, doctor’s
visits, phone conversations, and long waits the oncologist gave us his final
recommendation: I needed a radical hysterectomy, chemotherapy, and possibly
radiation. I remember one day in particular that my heart had such a hard time
resting. Chris (my husband) and I were on a conference call with the
oncologist. Chris started asking questions about fertility preservation (in
order to avoid the hysterectomy). The oncologist was very polite, but he
basically told Chris -do you want to try to have children or do you want your
wife to live? Those words pierced my heart so deeply. I felt like the Truth
that I had been believing since last year -“by His stripes I am healed”- was slapped
across the face with the facts of cancer, hysterectomy, chemo, radiation,
infertility, and death. That afternoon I cried for about 4 hours non-stop. My
eyes and my face were so swollen from crying. Chris held me for a long time.
And then he told me: “Baby, God never intended for you to carry this. It’s too
heavy for you. Let Him carry it for you. Rest in Him.” So after a long cry, I decided to give my
burden back to Him again. And my soul returned to rest.
Come to me, all you
who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my joke upon you and
learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for
your souls. Matthew 11:28-29
God has given me permission to cry when I need to. And I
have. It’s good to cry. It cleanses your heart. But I don’t cry very much
because I work at not letting my soul worry. I would rather rest. I rest in His
love. I know He loves me and He takes care of me. And that’s enough. I don’t
need to figure it all out. He can do that. That’s His part, not mine. My part
is to rest/trust/believe in Him. And when I rest, I let Him do His part. I let
Him be God. I honestly don’t claim to be this great woman of faith. I don’t
claim to be strong. I am actually weak. I can’t carry this burden. It’s too
heavy for me. I just give it to the One who can. I just rest in His love. I
rest in His promise that “by His stripes I am healed.” And when I do, I am at
peace, I have joy, and I feel great! What a beautiful place He has prepared for
us. I am crying as I write this because I am so happy that He has provided this
place of rest for us. I love to share this because it is the Great News! This
is what Jesus has done for us. Today, be encouraged if you are going through
hard times or if you are going through the daily worries of life. Your soul can
have rest, peace and joy despite all of the turmoil around you.
The Lord will fight for
you, you need only to be still. Exodus 14:14
One day, a month after this diagnosis, Chris and I were
laughing and just having a great time. We looked at each other and said: -so this
is how it feels to have peace in the middle of a storm, huh?- It is a peace
that no-one, no circumstance, and no devil can take away from us. It’s a peace
that surpasses all understanding. So now,
when we find ourselves worrying, tense, preoccupied, anxious, or fearful, we
look at the issue at hand (maybe cry some, maybe not), we hand it over to God,
and then we go back to rest. We WORK HARD at resting and it is so worth it!
That’s our job –to rest. Thank you Jesus
for this rest that you paid and prepared for us. Thank you Jesus that by your
stripes we are healed.
Therefore we must make
every effort to enter that rest… Hebrews 4:11
Me empecé a poner
nerviosa y a tener pensamientos negativos. Me acuerdo que llore bastante un día
mientras esperaba. Yo habia pasado los ultimos dias” firme” creyéndole a Dios y
estaba exhausta.
Dios me
Y nosotros hemos llegado a conocer y
1 Juan 4:16
Los
siguientes dias fueron muy estresantes. Estaba haciendo todo lo posible para
que mi alma descansara y no estuviera turbada. Y cuando descansaba en El, me sentía
tan bien! Sentía paz y me sentía feliz.
Esas palabras me desgarraron profundamente.
Tu
solo descansa en él. Que él se encargue-. Así que después de varias horas, decidí
darle mi carga otra vez. Y mi alma volvió a descansar.
Mateo
11:28-29
No me mal
Y he
llorado.
He aprendido que no necesito tener
No puedo
llevar grandes cargas.
luego regresamos a descansar. Literalmente nos debemos esforzar en descansar.
Si!
Hebreos 4:11
